VRDS

Vibration-Free Rigid Disc-Clamping System

This famous TEAC-original CD-drive mechanism reduces rotation vibration of the disc itself as well as unwanted mechanical vibrations by clamping the CD to an aluminum turntable with the same diameter, maximizing inertial mass to stabilize rotation. Servo current is reduced by correcting disc warping and distortion, improving the relative optical axis precision of the pickup and disc pit side. This results in fewer disc reading errors and outstanding audio quality.

ɅƩdelta-sigma discrete DAC

Designed in-house

Instead of using a generic DAC IC, we incorporated a newly developed TEAC ΔΣ (Delta Sigma) discrete DAC, comprised of discrete circuitry that uses an FPGA incorporating our original algorithms. Analog signals are output with high audio quality.

DSD signals are transmitted as is, while PCM signals are transmitted after passing through a ΔΣ modulator and converted to either 1-bit or multi-bit signals, according to the end user's choice. Achieving this wide, perfectly clear sound field—possible specifically because of the discrete design—represents TEAC reaching the pinnacle of its sound objectives. With the TEAC ΔΣ discrete DAC, playback of 22.5MHz DSD and 384kHz/32-bit PCM is possible.

Semi-floating mounting

Minimal vibrations & increased stability

A floating structure is used to keep transformers, which can easily cause vibrations, isolated from the bottom panel. The lengths of all the side fins, which aid in heat dispersion, have also been adjusted to prevent sympathetic vibrations.

In addition to using the minimum number of circuit board attachment screws, TEAC's original pinpoint feet utilize a new mechanism to allow for movement where they contact the bottom panel, thoroughly suppressing vibrations that affect audio quality.

Power is everything

High capacity supplies for improved performance

Many audio manufacturers use switching power supplies or smaller linear ones. TEAC takes a different approach. All models in the 700 Series use oversized, independent high-capacity toroidal core transformers (sometimes up to four), dedicated to the fully dual-mono design, with separate power supplies for the digital and analog boards and control boards. Solid, clean power is the foundation of every good-sounding audiophile product.
