Ondersteunt MP3-, WMA-, AAC- en WAV-formaten
Conventionele digitale audio-formaten zoals MP3 en WMA kunnen worden afgespeeld met CD-ROM-/CD-R-/CD-RW-schijven. Bovendien worden muziekbestanden in AAC- en WAV-indeling ook afgespeeld vanaf een USB-stick die in de USB-poort aan de voorzijde is geplaatst. Nuttig is dat de speler ID3-tag, titel van het nummer en informatie over de naam van de artiest in MP3-, WMA- en AAC-bestanden kan weergeven op het LC-display.

Het gebruik van aluminium panelen voor de voor-, zij- en bovenkant van de speler betekent dat de PD-301DAB-X ongewone stijfheid biedt, waardoor het negatieve effect van ongewenste trillingen op de geluidskwaliteit tot een minimum wordt beperkt. En dit alles in een behuizing met een klein grondoppervlak dat slechts 215 mm x 232 mm (8.5 inch x 9.1 inch) beslaat, zodat gebruikers de eenheid op de kleinste desktops kunnen plaatsen.
Ingebouwde DAB+/FM Tuner
In tegenstelling tot de meeste andere cd-spelers is de PD-301DAB-X ook voorzien van een DAB/FM-tunermodule in de compacte behuizing.

Naast conventionele analoge audio-uitgangen worden audiosignalen van de ingebouwde DAB+/FM-tuner van de PD-301DAB-X ook geleverd via de digitale audio-uitgangen, via zowel de coaxiale als de optische aansluitingen (deze aansluitingen leveren uiteraard ook digitale audio van de CD).
Het formaat voor digitale audio-uitvoer is PCM 44,1 kHz/16-bits, ongeacht de resolutie van de oorspronkelijke bron.
