(German) TEAC AI-303 in test: Mini amp with maxi equipment

When it comes to audiophile sound in a small space, the Teac AI-303 should be at the top of the list. It combines a cutting-edge D/A converter with transparent sound in a compact, quality package.

(Dutch) REVIEW TEAC NT-505-X AND AP-505: HOW MINI MAXI PERFORMS - 4.5/5

The display quality of this TEAC combination will surprise many in the living room and the minimal dimensions, in addition to the low heat development, mean that the two components do not stand out visually. In short, the NT-505-X and the AP-505 are recommended.

(German) Testing the Teac UD-505-X and AP-505

The AP-505 power amplifier is a small powerhouse with enormous control over the speaker. It sounds dynamic, brisk and makes pressure, but never gets too bold. It is also flexible thanks to two pairs of inputs as well as bi-amp and BTL operation. Very well made.

    (German) Test: TEAC AP-701 & UD-701N - Stereo Power Amplifier / Amplifier & DAC / Network Player - 92%

The flagship DAC/network player UD-701N is a real all-rounder. A large number of analog and digital connections and various wireless connection options make it very flexible and the ideal heart of a system. Sample rate upconversion and various DSD filters allow high-quality playback of digital signals.

(German) Review TEAC UD-701N and AP-701: Tough, luxury, convenience and quality - 4.4/5

With the new 701 device series, which currently consists of two components, TEAC is moving up a class in the league for high-quality component hi-fi with streaming capabilities. The Teac UD-701N streaming preamp and the AP-701 power amp combine traditional design virtues with the latest circuit technology and top-level sound. And that – viewed as a complete package – at a very competitive price.

  • CG-10Master Clock Generator

    (German) Test: Teac NT-505-X & Teac CG-10M | DAC/Streamer, Masterclock

I'm impressed by this compact and elegant device. Not only because it looks cool and is excellently processed, but because under the hood of the Teac NT-505-X there is really good-sounding digital technology, which makes a successful technology transfer from the much more expensive Esoteric devices noticeable.

    (Dutch) REVIEW: TEAC NT-505 DAC/NETWORK PLAYER AND CG-10M CLOCK GENERATOR - 4/5

With the GC-10M, TEAC seems to be trying to make clock generators more mainstream. The reality is that they are only relevant to a part of the hi-fi audience. Partly because not all DACs are compatible, partly because good clocks simply cost a lot of money. In that sense, the GC-10M is still reasonably priced. A clock like this makes sense if your system is already playing at a high level. The TEAC CG-10M is then ready for you to provide just that little bit more tightness and definition.

  • NT-505Network player & Preamplifier

Music station with great ambitions - 4.5/5

The Teac NT-505 gathers everything you need for technology to play everything you want from digital music, in one small cabinet. It does not matter if you are using Android, iPhone, PC or Mac, or if you have music on a hard disk or NAS. Or if you are a Tidal user. In addition, it sounds so good, that it would easily defend the price as a DAC alone.

    (Dutch) REVIEW: TEAC NT-505 DAC/NETWORK PLAYER AND CG-10M CLOCK GENERATOR - 4.5/5

The NT-505 is a streaming DAC with many streaming options and a DA conversion that makes us very happy. Just like with the NR-7CD, we fall for the Velvet Sound of the AKM DAC chips used. It combines very nicely with some analytical or neutral amplifiers. And you can still fine-tune with the filters that are provided. The internal conversion from PCM to DSD also produces a nicer sound. Finally, Roon Ready compatibility and top-level Bluetooth streaming make the NT-505 a nice upgrade from the NT-503. The NT-505 keeps the promise of the Reference 500 series (once again): to offer a lot of hi-fi in a compact format.

The NT-505 X from TEAC is a compact USB DAC network player that has a lot to offer. Inside, the dual monaural circuit guarantees extremely clean signal conversion. Test: TEAC PE-505 phono preamplifier – finally pushing vinyl to the limit (German). 95%

Anyone who loves vinyl shouldn't neglect one of the most important components: the equalizer preamplifier. With the PE-505, Teac has brought out a real masterpiece. Not only does it look good in terms of design, it really gets the maximum out of every pickup. While it's not one of the most affordable phono preamps on the market, it's a must-buy for all true vinyl fans.

Test Teac PE-505: phono stage for perfectionists (German). 4.7/5

1600 euros is a proud price for a midi format device that only raises and equalizes phono signals to line level. On the other hand, something like that from the sister brand Esoteric can easily cost 10,000 euros - by the way, with the same patented spiked feet, the same Demag equipment and a clearly recognizable tonal relationship. I can only recommend the PE-505 - as a high-resolution, very universal, practice-friendly phono preamp with a price that is not yet completely out of reach.

TEST: TEAC TN-3B TURNTABLE - SMALL MASTERPIECE (German) - 92%

With the TN-3B, Teac achieves a small masterpiece. In this way, several virtues are combined in the device. The record player is quickly mounted and offers excellent running smoothness without having to trump with mass. In addition, the AT-VM95E pickup in the existing tonearm combination proves to be a small miracle of sound. The internal phono EQ is just as enjoyable as the AD converter for digitizing records. If you are looking for a really good all-rounder for everyday use, you can grab it without thinking twice.

(Swedish) Record players with RIAA Group test - 6.6/10

The first impression was that Teac played with both drive and weight in the impact, but also with a blunter, a bit jumpy sound and narrower stereo feel. There was power and pulse, but not nearly the same openness and distinctive stereo sharpness as, for example, the Argon. It all depended on the pickup, which had muscle, but couldn't take the turns and open up the sound as much as, say, the AT-VM95. With that pickup, the player's tactful playing style also became even clearer, but the stereo image was also more spacious and the treble airier.

Review: TEAC TN-4D - Direct Drive Turntable, A/D Converter & USB Connection (German) - 5.6/6

The elegant and well-made TEAC TN-4D record player offers an excellent basis for listening to records with its very quiet direct drive. With its drive and momentum, it inspires analogue fans. With the integrated MM phono preamplifier and A/D converter, TEAC delivers a well-equipped sound package. At the same time, the TEAC TN-4D offers a solid basis for better pickups, the qualities of which it is happy to demonstrate.

Beautifully built and finished Teac’s TN-5BB turntable was visually attractive, leveraging every little feature of these complex contraptions for maximum advantage – even its feet look good! (Dutch) REVIEW TEAC VRDS-701 CD PLAYER: BEAUTIFUL PLAYER WITH IMPRESSIVE RUNNING GEAR - 4.5/5

With the VRDS-701, TEAC has launched a fantastic CD player that is beautifully built around an impressive drive, and which also sounds sublime. The basic operation is simple, and with the manual included, the deeper menu settings - which you don't often need anyway - have no secrets. In terms of connections, there is actually nothing left to be desired, although the lack of a digital AES/EBU input is a small but not essential loss. The remote control is made of plastic and all buttons are the same size and have the same color. It is functional but perhaps could have been a little more luxurious and ergonomic.

And TEAC responds with the VRDS-701, the device chosen to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the brand, released after the UD-701N, from which it inherits most of the electronics, both digital and analogue, but equipped with the CD transport instead of the mains player.

    (German) Test: TEAC VRDS-701 | CD-Player, DAC

The Teac VRDS-701 is a sophisticated CD player and DAC that will probably be the last purchase of this kind for many hi-fi fans: it plays in high resolution, lively, bright and tonally neutral to slightly brighter. That's why it probably appeals more to "analysis fans" who want to get every little bit of information from their silver discs than to those who give their music a shot of warmth. But even listeners who want to give their system a little more drive should give the Japanese, which is processed like a safe, a listen.
